Pet hotels fill up fast during holidays, but availability alone is not a good reason to book.
Visit first
- Clean rooms with good ventilation and no stale smell
- Separate areas for dogs and cats, and by size
- Space to exercise and a walking schedule
Questions to ask
- Is someone on duty 24 hours a day?
- Is there a vet on site or on call?
- How often do they send photos or videos?
- Which vaccinations and flea or tick treatments are required?
- What happens if your pet stops eating or gets sick?
What to pack
- Their usual food, portioned per meal
- A blanket or toy that smells of home
- Medication with written instructions
